Kanab was first settled in 1864 and officially founded in 1870, when Mormon pioneers made the area their home. Its name comes from a Paiute word meaning “place of the willows.”

With Kanab growing so quickly today, our foundation is working hard to protect its historic buildings and artifacts—and to keep the stories behind them alive for everyone to enjoy.
